I’ve curated 11 back to school outfits for both high schoolers and college students. a casual, realistic and affordable guide.
The good thing about these curated pieces are their versatility and capability of looking different when styled with another piece. The hardest part about getting dressed for school is feeling like you are wearing the same thing over and over again. These pieces allow you to make multiple outfits that have a different look and feel.
The White Shirt and Blue Jean Combo
Now, lets start with the classic white T-shirt and blue jean combo. This pairing is so versatile and looks good with just about any sweater or jacket layer. I highly recommend investing in good quality t-shirts especially white ones, this one is from Everlane and they also have bundle offers if you buy more. As for jeans, this is a personal choice, jeans look different on everyone so try not to get influenced by peoples jeans and try to find what jeans feel right on you. I highly recommend you read my blog all about Types of Jeans that Can Elevate your Style. Let’s talk about the layering pieces: The brown light jacket is a Amazon find and it’s the perfect piece to roll over into fall/winter. The Cardigan is absolutely stunning and shows a bit of personal style if you fancy it. I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. If it’s not this piece then, I think it’s important to search for a piece that is very unique to you. Now let’s get into the accessories: A tote is essential to have since it can carry so many things and even books, it also looks much cuter than a backpack. This one I shared is a classic and it resembles the Classic Longchamp Bag, so if it’s your vibe you can find it here for $26.99.
Back to School Outfits: The White Jean Edit
We all love a pair of white jeans, the “No white jeans after Labor day” saying doesn’t exist in my book and it shouldn’t in yours. I recommend going for an off white or creamy color instead of true white. It just looks chic-er. These jeans are from Madewell, but like I said jeans are personal so please find what jeans are suitable and flattering on you so that you can get the most wear out of them. This messenger bag is a game-changer! It’s so versatile you can wear it while commuting or bring it along to football games. Although it’s casual the leather gives it a very classy and put together look and feel, it’s also from Madewell. Let’s talk about the layering pieces: They are essential to adding dimension to an outfit. A jean shirt and a gray light cardigan are versatile enough to be used in your rotation very frequently. The sneakers are Onitsuka Tigers which are a classic shoe that can tie any look together. Any neutral sneaker is essential when you’re preparing your back to school outfits. The great thing about all these outfits is that they can also be worn with the blue jeans or the black yoga pants.
Back to School Outfits: Yoga Pants
No matter what, we know these pants are going into the weekly rotation because COMFORT. Let’s be real, it’s fun dressing up in the first few months and then when reality sets in and you’re mid-way through the school-year you will be more interested in comfort. So let’s at least make them look cute! Let’s talk shoes: Birkenstock Boston clogs are so comfortable and they look good with almost any outfit. If you’re not ready to invest in a pair then I recommend you order an Amazon dupe for $23.99. If you have a pair that are dirty, then read how to clean them without ruining them here. The Canvas Tote in the first image is Sporty & Rich but we all know a canvas tote is just a canvas tote so use whatever you want!
Back to School Outfits: Ballet Flats
Adding a ballet flat to a simple outfit can really elevate your look, so if your feeling more girly some days and need to make your outfit more feminine this is a great touch. Neutral brown tones also make a outfit look more chic these Neutral T-shirts are flowy and perfect for layering throughout the seasons. I had to add a chic tan coat for the chilly days and this one is highly rated for good reason, it’s warm yet lightweight and perfect for fall and even winter. Let’s talk Jewelry, this is another personal choice. If you still aren’t sure about what kind of Jewelry you like then start off with affordable pieces and then if you really fall in love with certain pieces then it’s worth an investment. I added some everyday pieces here from a popular Amazon brand.
I hope this helps, leave a comment with other ideas and topics you’d like more of for fashion! Have a great school year, and good luck!
